How important it is to choose right cleanser wisely?

Germs love the skin-especially the oily, moist and hairy areas. The skin has its own ecosystem of different kinds of germs and bacteria that keep each other in check, a balance, which when disturbed, can lead to infection. The surface layer, which is formed by the dead cells and a mixture of secretions from the sweat and sebaceous glands and dust, is grimy and filthy. It is important to regularly wash away the dirt to maintain hygiene and allow the skin to breathe and carry on its work.

The first and key step for healthy skin is cleansing. The best way to cleanse is to use a cleanser. Remember, while choosing the right cleanser, you first need to concentrate on your skin type, then on your skin concerns, then on the ingredients. Check for following specifics on the most apt cleansers for various skin types:

Dry Skin: If you have dry skin choose sulphate free cleansers. Sulphates are harsh chemicals which take away the natural oil of the skin and leaves it dull and dry. You can go for gel-based or cream cleansers or oil cleansers too. Look out for ingredients such as grapefruit, kiwi which are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C. They will nourish the skin, hydrate it and help retain the natural moisture of the skin.

Oily and Acne-Prone Skin: For people who have oily skin or acne issues, they should choose cleansers with tea tree, neem, sandalwood and willow bark extract as they contain natural salicylic acid. These will make sure pores are not clogged anymore as the ingredients have gentle exfoliating properties. These natural extracts have no side effects which product based on chemicals as benzoyl peroxide has. Make sure to go for non-alcoholic products.

Combination skin: Gel-based cleansers should do the magic. They help maintain the right balance between dryness and oiliness.
